The award-winning theatrical production ‘Lady Pistol’ has been scheduled to be staged at a playhouse in Tehran, following successful screenings last year.
‘Lady Pistol’ (in Farsi, ‘Tapancheh Khanoum’) directed by Shahabuddin Hosseinpour will be staged at the Paliz Theater in Tehran, starting from September 19.
The theatrical presentation drew rave reviews after performances at City Theater and Iranshahr Theater Hall last year.
The play will be performed this year with a different cast, including with prominent Iranian actress Maral Farjad.
‘Lady Pistol’, set in the 1960s and 70s in Iran, tells the story of a powerful woman named Akhtar-ol-Saltaneh, who tries to improve the culture of her city. She takes a controversial stance by implementing a series of harsh measures, going as far as using force with guns to attempt to civilize the people.
She keeps a collection of pistols, which eventually leads to her downfall, as currents laws ban ownership of firearms.
‘Lady Pistol’ has already received rave reviews and was presented at the 34th Fadjr International Theater Festival.
The theatrical production won nominations in various categories of the Fadjr event, while going on to win awards for Best Director, Best Makeup Artist, Best Costume Designer and Best Actress.
